1) Город на юго-западе штата Техас. 90,9 тыс. жителей (2000). Город возник около построенной в 1881 станции железной дороги "Тексас энд Пасифик" [Texas and Pacific Railroad]. Название, возможно, связано со сходством местности с районом г. Одессы на Украине. Город разросся во время нефтяного бума 1929, именно в этом районе Техаса пробурена самая глубокая нефтяная скважина - до глубин нефтяного бассейна в слоях пород пермского периода. Нефтепереработка, химическая промышленность, машиностроение (производство нефтебурового оборудования, электроники). Симфонический оркестр, театры, в том числе копия шекспировского театра "Глобус" [Globe of the Great Southwest]. Одесский колледж [Odessa College] и Техасский университет в Пермском бассейне [Texas of the Permian Basin, University of]. Среди достопримечательностей: трехметровая статуя зайца-чернохвостика [ jackrabbit; Jackrabbit Statue], Музей президентов [Presidential Museum] (собрание экспонатов, относящихся ко всем президентам США и их предвыборным кампаниям), парки2) Город на севере штата Делавэр. В XVIII-XIX вв. крупный торговый центр, был обойден железной дорогой и потерял прежнее значение. Ныне известен как город, в котором много архитектурных памятников колониального стиля [ colonial style]. Среди них: особняк Корбита-Шарпа [Corbit-Sharp House] (1774), квакерский молельный дом [Friends Meetinghouse] (1783), старая церковь Дроуэра [Old Drawyer's Church] (1773) -
